It's summer and time to get together as a family! Link Up Vets will be holding its third annual picnic to do just that. Join us for a family camping trip where the John Day and Columbia rivers meet (near I-84)! This will be a great weekend full of fun, fishing, and friends! This is open to Veterans and their families. Please note this is for tent camping only as there is no access for trailers.
This campground is only accessible via pontoon boat so there will be two departure times. When you RSVP, you will be assigned a time to arrive for the boat transport.

Pamelia Hike Update: hike is full at this time due to available permits. We hope to get more but will not know until the 18th. Any additional reservations received will be put on a waiting list. We will provide an update on the permits on the 18th.
Please plan to join us for a family friend day hike to Pamelia Lake. This hike is an approximately 4.4 mile out and back trail that is easy to intermediate in skill level. This experience will be led by Link Up Vets Board Member and Hiking/Outdoor Event Specialist, Mark Erickson, US Navy Veteran.
We will meet at the VFW Post 584 parking lot in Albany on Saturday, August 20. We will depart from there at 8:00am. It is recommended to carpool due to limited parking at the trailhead. It is an estimated 2 hour drive to the hike location. Permits are required and will be provided with your registration. A limited number is available so please register soon!

This event has been canceled. A family day hike has been scheduled as an alternative.
Are you ready for an outdoor adventure? One that will challenge your skill and may push you to your limits? Join us on August 19 and where we plan to summit Middle Sister. This experience will be led by Link Up Vets Board Member and Hiking/Outdoor Event Specialist, Mark Erickson, US Navy Veteran.
We will meet at the VFW Post 584 parking lot early the morning of August 19 (time to be determined) to begin our drive. Once we arrive at the trailhead, the hike will begin at the Pole Creek trail for a duration of 5 miles and 1,500 feet of elevation gain. We will then arrive to camp at timberline, by the foot of the Hayden Glacier. Early the next morning, we will climb another 3,000 feet in about 2 miles to reach the summit of Middle Sister (approximately around noon). After a short rest at the top to celebrate, we will head back down the mountain to pack up our camp and trek the remaining 5 miles back to the trailhead. We expect to return to Albany on August 20 by 10:00 pm. These times are estimates based on past experience but will certainly be determined by the fitness and pace of our group.
Please note that this climb is weather dependent on snow levels. Updates will be given as we get closer to the date.
Supplies: A meeting will be held prior to the hike to review all supplies needed and to answer any questions.
This trip is taxing physically but is certainly achievable without special gear or training. The better shape you are in before the hike the more enjoyable it will be. This experience will be a challenge, but one to remember!

Link Up Vets invites you to attend The Stars & Stripes Ball, an evening of food, fun, and fundraising.
This will be a formal event. Guests need not be veterans. Guests must be 18 years or older to attend.
All proceeds benefit Link Up Vets and our mission to assist veterans through the reintegration process by providing outdoor adventure, community events, and service/emotional support dogs that combat issues of PTSD, TBI, and Mobility Issues due to service connected injuries.

Please join us for a Veterans only fishing and crabbing trip in Depoe Bay. Bring clothes for hot and cool weather as well as something to drink and eat.
We are scheduled for our trip with Tradewinds Charters in Depoe Bay at 7:00am.
If you would like to carpool, please meet at VFW Post 584 at 5:00am. We plan to take our activity bus. Otherwise, please meet us at the dock in Depoe Bay.

Due to unavailability of camping spots, we are changing this event to a one-day float only! Please meet at Waterloo Park at 11:00 am and we will shuttle you to the drop-in point. We take out at Waterloo where your car will be waiting.
Please bring all of your own floating and safety equipment. You may even want to pack a lunch for after the float so we can all picnic together! Please let us know if you plan to join us so we can be sure to have enough transportation.
